Military hospitals can set bones of our injured veterans, stop the bleeding and bandage the wounds but what happens when the stitches turn into scars and the casts and bandages are gone? So often, our Wounded Veterans along with their families are left to do the rest of the healing on their own. Warriors in Recovery helps military families build comprehensive treatment programs designed to aid in full physical, mental and emotional recovery.
Why treat the whole person? Many injured veterans, disabled veterans, Wounded Warriors and their families are suffering from the effects of post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD)and many combat wounded veterans suffered Traumatic Brain Injuries (TBI) in combat that have changed the way they live.
These conditions aren’t always easy to diagnose and the symptoms manifest in vastly different ways from one person to the next. One thing is almost certain – drugs aren’t enough. Studies have shown that comprehensive recovery plans incorporating stress and pain management treatment such as Massage, Acupuncture, good nutrition, physical activity and counseling designed to treat the body, mind and spirit, help and have been extremely successful.
The private healthcare civilian world has long recognized the benefit of massage, acupuncture, chiropractic care, counseling, nutrition and physical fitness. Private insurance plans usually cover these treatment options. The military insurance Tricare plan is behind in recognizing many of these healthcare solutions. The VA in some regions recognize such services however it’s hard for our warriors to get an appointment. Warriors in Recovery works to make these viable treatment options readily available to our servicemen and women regardless of their financial situations.
We’re always looking for qualified volunteers around the country who can volunteer their services whether this be in administration or treatment to assist soldiers that are classified as injured veterans, Wounded Veterans, disabled veterans or Wounded Warriors. If you are not able to volunteer your time but would like to Donate we are extremely grateful for your help. Be sure to watch our documentary below.
